The Financial Strain of the Coronavirus…

I hope that you all are doing OK? And staying safe, and my prayers are with all the people that are suffering and may have lost a loved one. I’ve not seen my parents for two full weeks now, the door to their house is locked, as they look after my granny of 93 which would be a big bonus for the virus- yet we are going to fight this virus to the core, and just not allow it to touch her (God willing). So although I haven’t seen them all I know that they are staying safe, and staying indoors for the for-see able future.

Not only has this pandemic affected us mentally because we feel so helpless and have a lot of anxiety for friends and family around us whom we can do nothing for, it has also put people in a financial strain.

It has really affected everyone, regardless of your income in different ways. Working in a utilities environment before the saga Evan became big, I was talking to my customers who were contemplating closing their businesses, these are small businesses who barely make ends meet, and they are stuck in giving up their dreams. Self-employed who do not get sick-pay are stuck, key workers who get paid very little in the first place are having to go out there and face the risks involved, but have to work to support the country. Low income workers who generally cannot stop working because they can’t afford life.

Also people who are working from home have their own challenges, having the kids at home, trying to home school and keep them busy whilst doing their own work, the added mouths to feed daily, three times a day and in between. The energy bill increasing whilst being at home, the extra food that is needed although the ‘prices’ have doubled…… (Breaths out) it’s all overwhelming. This virus is out for us all, regardless of income, age, sex, religion or colour. We are all in the same boat.

Now that I’ve gone through the bad part- i’ll focus on the positive. This post is not to talk about how bad we have it, this post is to help you and provide you with the information you need in order to get through this, and there is a lot of help and support out there,

Home Owners

Most mortgage lenders are providing a 3 month payment holiday (do check with your mortgage provider). I just need to advise that this is a payment holiday, the bank does not pay for you- once your payment starts up again it will continue with the normal interest payment you initially agreed. So if you are a home owner and are struggling this may help you for a couple of months. Have a quick check online or call up the bank.

Help for Renters

There is a clause to be put into place for renters alike- that they will be protected from eviction for 3 months. Do speak to your landlord and keep communication open between the both of you. Do also keep in mind that this is a payment holiday and you will be asked to pay in full once situations change. Like with Home owners it doesn’t mean that you will not need to pay. The money will still be owed.

Here is a webby for more information: https://www.homesandproperty.co.uk/property-news/renting/renters-eviction-laws-coronavirus-covid19-a137476.html

Help for Businesses

The ‘Job retention Scheme’ has been put into place for business owners, which enables small businesses to keep staff on in these precedent times, HMRC will reimburse 80% of wages up to £2500 per month per person, to avoid people being made redundant. This is for 3 months initially, but depending on how things go may be extended.

Self Employed

The Self-employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) will support the self-employed who have lost income due to the Covid-19. The grant will allow you to claim a taxable 80% of your profits (maximum £2500) for 3 months. Once again this may be extended if necessary.

The government has also advised that it will delay the next set of self-assessment tax payments to January 2021, allowing people more time to pay tax bill

There is a lot of information on this webby for all self employed: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2020/03/uk-coronavirus-help-and-your-rights/?utm_source=MSE_Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=24-Mar-20-50599068-805&utm_campaign=nt-hiya&utm_content=6#selfassesment

Sick Pay for Employees

Employees off sick with Covid-19 are eligible for 2 weeks statutory sick pay (SSP). Employers can claim for this and will need Employees to get an isolation note from NHS 111

There is a lot more information for nursery businesses, retail, hospitality and leisure businesses plus more available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-about-covid-19/covid-19-support-for-businesses

Citizen Advice Bureau

I have attached the citizen’s advice bureau webby here https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/contact-us/contact-us/contact-us/

If you would like to know more about your rights, how to go about getting the help needed or applying for the help and what further can be offered to you in these precedent times.

This is a tough time for a lot of us, but remember your mental health is the main factor in whether you get through this period. Don’t get too overwhelmed with the changes that have been thrown to us overnight. In all honesty Boris J really has done a lot for his people. Im impressed. Might be changing parties if it continues this way (*sorry pops*)

Just remember guys, fortunately we have homes and we have roofs over our head and we have food in our fridges. We are already doing well.

Hopefully the plan for the next blog is to keep you updated on a lot of free resources that are available on the internet for the bored kiddos!

Hope that you all are keeping safe, staying indoors and washing those hands!

Love and regards

The First Stage of a Holiday…. Packing.

Right ok, so the yearly family holiday has been booked, and I’ve been furiously checking the weather at the destination every hour, just to make sure that the predicted weather and the current weather are in liaison with each other? (Do you do that too?) Just so that I can get an idea of what to pack.

The first stage of the holiday, and the excitement of it starts with the packing. Taking the suitcase out from under the beds, beating out the dust and taking in the aroma of an empty suitcase… ( I can smell it. It smells…. Empty!) oooooooh excitings

I have noticed a lot of influencers on Instagram at the moment are using all these little gadgets when packing clothes for their holidays.

Seriously we have reached a culture where we love watching people clean, wash their faces and also pack now!

So I thought while it’s trending l will show you all how I pack for my holidays (without the gadgets) and it’ll give me a chance to show off my clothes too!

This is well overdue, it’s from my trip to India back in October, our trip consisted of Nine packed full days where we went from Goa, to Mumbai and then a last 24 hours in Dubai and back home.

I consider myself to be a sensible packer. No. Actually I am a sensible packer. The men in the household however are not. Yup. We have switched roles here. They pack for all seasons and the whole month. But I only take the exact amount of outfits I need…. I hate bringing it all back and putting it all away.

So for the nine days I needed Nine full outfits, being a modest dresser that includes any tops to be worn inside and matching scarves.

Outfit no.1 trouser/skirt : Zara.
Black Top with gold buttons: Zara
Brown Scarf

And what I do is, I put the top and the scarf all inside, I also add the underwear here and I roll the trouser/skirt up in a roll like above.

Outfit. No. 2 Skirt/Trouser: Mango
Black and White Blouse: No idea!
Orange and Grey chiffon Scarf
Outfit. No. 3
Blue Jumpsuit : Mango
White Blouse : Mango
Nude and Blue scarf
Outfit.no. 4.
For my Day in Mumbai.
Indian Attire from Urbankai on Instagram
Outfit. No. 5
Jumpsuit: Shein
Black Blouse: Zara
Orange and Grey chiffon scarf
Outfit no. 6
Trousers: Zara
Top: Zara
Plain nude scarf
Outfit. No. 7
Denim style Linen trousers: Zara
Sleeve embroidered White Top: Zara
Light Grey Scarf
Outfit no.8
Olive Paperbag Trousers : Mango
Cream oversized blouse: Mango
creased effect scarf
Outfit. No 9 co-ord set: Shein
Contrasting cream scarf

And here they all are wrapped up within themselves, all of them have the appropriate scarves, tops, and underwear within.

I Love shoes- apart from when I’m on holiday. I hate taking good shoes because they always come back dusty and worn, and I hate showing feet skin (does that make sense?!) So on holiday my footwear is always covered. I chose the above footwear. The sandals are for the poolside and remaining footwear for day/ night comfort covering feet footwear (I didn’t realise just how particular I am until I started writing this. I actually sound quite old reading this back…. Oh my God. I am my mother!)

Don’t forget a toiletry bag for medication. Paracetamol and Ibuprofen and vitamin C are a must, all others to be added in as well.

And this is how I put it in the suitcase:

Here’s my nine outfits, plus my burkini with it’s scarf. One Toiletry bag with medication, One toiletry bag with cosmetics, and One toiletry bag with bath essential. On the other side of the suitcase I put in jewellery and shoes- so that they are away from the clothes. And don’t forget to chuck in the travel plugs.

This is such an easy way to pack and so ideal to just pull out an outfit daily. And you can see it all properly.

Hope you find it productive.

And now for my India Trip haul.

Coming up soon

Stay tuned

Love and Regards

Tooth Update

So back to my tooth. I’m thinking of adding a tab on my contents just for my tooth journey, as it’s proving to be a long ride.

It’s been 3 weeks and I’ve not suffered any pain at all, since the tooth was filled in from the previous appointment of the failed root canal.

From the two options I decided on the extraction. Once its gone at least I know the pain will never come back. With the Root Canal, there’s no guarantee that it’ll solve the problem.

I did have anxiety- not over the procedure because I knew I was going to a specialist, I knew the procedure will probably be the easiest I’ve ever had. I had anxiety because I knew would be in pain after, I was worried about how long the pain would last, and whether it would get infected or not.

I was actually quite pleased to be going to a specialist, as I knew the procedure would take 20 minutes maximum and the tooth would be out, rather than the one and a half hour it took at my last appointment.

Before I went in, I spoke to a girl sitting outside who was having 3 tooth taken out, and she had been here previously and although uncomfortable she was quite upbeat about it. That put me at ease. I was only having one taken out.

Once inside, I made sure I asked the dentist to make sure it was the right anaesthetic, and if my dentist had made him aware of my situation. He advised me he would give me the adrenaline and yes, he was made aware, and that was why she had sent me to him.

I did ask him again, that the adrenaline makes my bp go low and I end up collapsing and vomiting. He assured me that he was using the right one.

Should I ask you to guess what happened?

As soon as he put the first one in, my heart started palpitating. He assured me it was all normal, and it should take 2/3 minutes before it slows back down. He then put another 2 in, at the front and the side of my tooth.

Back at reception, I waited for the adrenaline to kick in and numb my tooth. And then….. It all started…

The room started spinning, I started spinning, I remember someone asking if i was ok, I said ‘no’. The floor beneath me was going further and further down, I was falling, my body started shaking. I heard them say ‘take her to the back’ I remember trying to get up, but the floor kept disappearing beneath me, I kept falling, I knew I was being dragged to a room in the back, I could feel eyes all over me.

At the back they lay me down, my body was shaking furiously, they asked if I’m cold. I was too hot. I said “hot, too hot”, I removed my jumper, my scarf. One of the ladies got me a cold wet towel and put on my forehead, it felt wonderful. I told her, she started to put over my eyes and my face, my body was still shaking.

They told me to open my eyes, I couldn’t do it, the ceiling was moving, and then I felt the bile in my throat, and the next minute I threw up…. All over the place. Like everywhere. Spluttered. It was awful. It felt like pregnancy and morning sickness all over again.

Do you want me to carry on? Because it doesn’t get better.

The end of it, well my tooth is still in my mouth, but how long before it starts hurting- we don’t know.

I do remember one of the ladies saying that I should be referred to the hospital, and why haven’t I been referred if this happens all the time. I’m really hoping for this.

I don’t remember much of what the dentist said, its all a blur, but there were talks of doctors, and waiting, and letters, and hospitals and operation.

I’ll have to call in and find out further on Monday.

This tooth situation really troubles me, its so horrible to have all eyes on you. I hate being helpless, I hate that people have to clean up after me, I hate that they have to look after me. I hate that my husband sees me in this state.

The hubby took a very tearful and disorientated me home, and I slept until the adrenline wore off, which was roughly 4 hours. Ive got up now, still feel a bit dizzy, but I’m talking and walking, and writing this. May need a couple more hours before I’m back to normal, and get through this trauma again.

There has to be another way. I can’t go through this again. And I can’t expect others to go through this also.

I Just needed a vent.

Remember me in your prayers

I’ll keep you all updated

Love and regards

Getting Ready for Black Friday

This year Black Friday falls on 29th November. Are you Ready??

Is it just me that thinks that Black Friday offers more discount then any other time of year? Ill probably say this again in the Christmas sales- but for the time being- isnt it the best day ever for a sale?

Although most stores offer some sort of discount on Black Friday, I find that the most discounts are usually put towards electrical appliances and gadgets like laptops and pcs, and games etc. However all stores usually have something going on, so if you are after something specific, just wait it out. Every penny counts.

If we are ever after anything big- for instance a Television, we try (if manageable) to hold out to this time of year. For the same price we are willing to pay- we can get something far bigger and better.

Last year we bought our TV, proudly sitting on our wall, and the year before I bought my kettle and toaster.

Normally at £79.99 for the kettle and £79.99 for the toaster, I picked up both for £70. And I did this online, so I didn’t have to face the manic rush of going to the store.

The internet has made life easier for shoppers like me- who can’t deal with crowds or queues, however there can be issues with servers, and sometimes the website just stops responding. I remember when I wanted my kettle and toaster, I was at the dentist ( yes I’m forever at the dentist. My teeth are a chronic problem as you may have figured. I should just do a blog on my tooth journey, see how old I get before I have none. I give myself 3 years max.) and I saw that the price had dropped, whilst waiting in reception, I decided to purchase online, but everytime I went to pay- the website would crash. I then called the hubby dearest and both of us tried. After my appointment which went so slow because I had anxiety that I would loose out on my kettle and toaster, (but atleast I wasnt thinking of the pain of the tooth) the hubby rang to say he will go in to the store straight after work. Before he finished work I somehow managed the whole process online. And wahey!! I still have it sitting on my kitchen counter.

As you can see 2 years on, my toaster is spanking, but my kettle has definately had its day (shame on me for scrubbing with a scourer!) So my wish list for black friday this year is the kettle again. Unfortunately evan though its old now- the price is still the same at £79.99. So im hoping Ill get it at half price again, and both products will last me a couple more years.

Since Black Friday is coming up heres a little guide on how to survive the day:

Make A List

Its important to have a list, especially if you have a budget. so you dont end up buying things that are not needed, and neglecting the ones that you Need now.

Budget

Allow yourself a maximum amount you want to spend per product and try to stick to it.

Research

Its best to check where the products are, and how much for. Some products go down alot (like my kettle and toaster) some products go down by 10p. YES! you saw the 10p, but because of the manic and the rush and people not seeing or researching beforehand- all they see is the sale sign and buy it, and later on realise they were done over. And some stores are really clever and sell there products at higher prices in the name of a ‘Sale’. So be Warned and be Sharp.

Black Friday sales usually do start early now- as some retailers want to get ahead of the game- so be aware of this if you are after something in particular from a particular store. Keep checking from a week in advance.

Also Black friday now is followed by Cyber Monday so in all honesty you have a whole weekend to pick up what you need. And do remember if its not available, Christmas sales are starting literally 10 days after, so wait it out!

Online Shopping

If you dont get a chance to go to the store due to commitments, or like me hate crowds and queues, this is the best option. Do make sure that the web page you are using is reliable (check for the lock at the top) and be patient if the web page does crash. Id rather be refreshing the page in the comfort of my own house/office then to be standing in a queue.

Check items before buying.

This does not work for online orders, but if you are in a store, do check the item throughly, as hundreds of people before you have touched this item. So take a few minutes to check its not damaged, or dropped. Its so much more harder to get refunds for sale items.

So thats my tips of getting the best out of Black Friday. Hopefully Ill be using them myself, but the excited little bunny I turn into when I see the sale sign really doesnt help me.

All the best with your shopping.

The Perfect Planner

It’s that time of year, where I start looking for diaries……I know I know. We have phones- and they are capable of holding all our information, like birthdays and appointments, but it’s just not the same for me. I need the feel of pen and paper, I like opening pages and looking in. And more importantly I love my diary to have a bit of character.

I’ve actually been searching for over a month now, and though the internet has so many options, I still haven’t found the perfect one. Sometimes when we are given more options, it makes us more fussy.

I’ll share what I have been using last couple of years.

I love photos, I love taking photos, whether that be of myself, my family, or scenic. And I love diaries, so what better combination. I made these diaries online on printerpix. It takes a bit of time, but it’s so nice to cherish, and it’s lovely to see pictures and memories. It’s a weekly diary and you can add a picture on for every week. Do keep 52 pictures ready.

Initially this was perfect for me, when I was working at BT Openreach. Enough to put in birthdays, appointments, anniversaries, training dates, school holidays etc, but as soon as my baking kicked off full time, I was running out of space. I needed more, and I wanted more of a professional look.

Then I found these babies

The Hello Day Planners. I’m not kidding when I say I fell in love with them. I’ve used them 4 years in a row as I’ve never been able to find anything better. They are so stylish and beautiful. And they are presented so well…. Have a look on YouTube for the unveiling. They come in gorgeous boxes, wrapped in tissue paper, with special cards. Honestly it’s like owning a designer bag. I look so forward to opening it up. I’ve also done unveiling videos in my insta stories. ( I know so sad) but …. Take my word for it …. Look on YouTube.. … ‘Hello Day planner unveiling’ . I guarantee you’ll put it in your Christmas wish list.

But it’s not just the packaging that enticed me, the packaging was a bonus as when I purchased my first one (after alot of ‘oh I don’t know if I should’ as at £46 it’s not exactly cheap- as the hubby says- the pound shop have loads of diaries!) It’s the whole product and what it offers.

With business now booming I needed a day to day planner, and I also need it to offer me more than just dates, and this planner does exactly that:

It’s a day a page- with a remainder to be grateful every morning, as well as a water and exercise plan. A quote of the day to keep you going, and a full page dedicated to what you need to do for the day.
Every month has its own beautiful plastic tab, and did you see the gold rims? Just how beautiful are they?
Before you start- you can put your yearly goals in, and it also allows you to check your progress every quarter.
My favourite page. Budgeting. Keep a track of your going ins and your going outs.
Every month has a full 2 page month at a glance page where you can note down important things briefly.
Also every month starts off with a goal planning page, put down your goals, things to do, and then finishes off with a end of month reflection.
Before the start of the week a page is dedicated to a glance of the full week.
Each day to day page has a blank space which I used to draw my cakes. Perfect for me to be able to picture it all

And then at the front and back there are empty pages just to use for own pleasure- I used these to put down my pricing for events and cakes. And the standard the year at a glance and important Telephone numbers.

I can’t think of anything else I would need in my planner.

So why Am I searching?

Well I no longer have my business and my diary looks like this now. Loads of blanks.

As much as I love my diary it’s too big and empty for me now. I need to switch back to weekly, yet the photo ones do not do it for me anymore

I want the Hello day qualities in a weekly planner.,and yes Hello Day do offer them. But only in 2 designs, (which I’m not keen on) and they lack the beauty the big ones have.

So I’m searching frantically for the perfect diary. One thing I do love is ‘Google’. As soon as it picks up what you are after- it sends you an immense amount of links, and I have found quite a few companies that do very similer planners to Hello Day. But I feel guilty about getting it (how is that Evan possible!) But I really do. I’m passionate about my diary. It’s my key accessory. I rave to anyone I know about my diary- you would think I work for Helloday (if they are jobs available- do let me know).

From the suggestions by Google I have 4 diaries on my mind.

1. Helloday Planner

Always number one, but I also have alot of guilt. £36.00. Have a look at their collection here : www.hellodayplanner.co.uk

2. BusyB

The price is a bonus, it has the full monthly page, weekly dates, budget planning. £15.99 . Find the BusyB collection here www.busyb.co.uk

3. Daily Greatness

I’m really leaning towards this. Love the leather pouch, it has so much going on inside, and very colourful. Abit on the dearer side but I do use my diaries throughout the year- so will be worth it. £89.00. Look at the collection here www.dailygreatness.co.uk

4. Amelia Lane

Looks so much like the Helloday but more colourful. Has the yearly, weekly and monthly break downs inside. Also budget planning. Same price as hello Day. £36.00. look at the collection here www.amelialanepaper.co.uk

And now I’m going to ignore all other suggestions by Google, and decide on one from the above, because I seriously cannot be adding more to my list.

Let’s see which one I end up going for.

Are we all just Drug Addicts?

Years ago I remember looking at my mother in law’s kitchen cupboard- a whole shelf dedicated to medicine.

My mother in law suffers from mild depression, has varicose veins, has high BP and has suffered a tumour in the brain. My father in- law is a diabetic and has suffered a heart attack, and also has high blood pressure. Both of them together take probably up to 30 tablets a day between them, and most of the tablets are their to counter off the side attacks that the first tablet gives.

A viscious cycle.

I couldn’t understand it. It was beyond my naive mind of reasoning .I would see them both take these medications, up to 3 times a day for years on end, and yet although they are up and about- they have not had any improvements? What is the porpose then? Has their body become immune to the medication? Is it all in the brain? Could the body not function without it? Would they really get worse if they slowely- stopped taking some of the medication?

At my house all I had was a small box and that had Calpol for the Boi, A Paracetamol packet, a Nurofen packet, a Bongela and Cough medicine. And that’s how it had been for years. We use to renew our cough medicine and Paracetamol and Nurofen every time it went out of date because we weren’t using it. Ever.

That was then.

Fast forward a couple of years- I opened the medicine cabinet in my own house. I have 2 shelves full of medication, and yes with my constant suffering of tooth pain- I’m a pill popper.

How and when did this happen?

Well, firstly . The damn tooth, so we have got Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Amoxicillin, Oragel, Pain out, Clove oil. Then I suffer from menorrhagia – so I have Transexamic acid on standby along with naproxen. I’m also anaemic….and then the hubby has a heart condition- and let’s not get into the details of the medication there.

Not to forget the standard cough medication, for dry cough, for wet cough, night nurse, and every other cough medicine you can think of. Eye drops, milk of magnesia, Iron supplements, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and now ….. (Breathes heavily) I’ve emptied my whole cupboard out, so I’m going to have to clean up and put it all away.

When did we become these pill popping drug addictive humans? Are we all conditioned to turn into this?

Alternative medicine is becoming popular, and I’m noticing that even doctors are willing to talk about this alongside medicine. I am a big fan of it, but in all reality on most cases it only offers an temporary solution. For example- clove oil for my tooth. It gives me relief for a couple of hours but then I’m back in pain, and the ‘over the counter’ medications work longer and better.

So how do we get away from this drug culture? What Evan is a Drug? Medication is a drug, toxic drugs is a drug. Do alcohol, nicotine and caffeine come into drugs? They are all addictive?

With my condition, how do I Evan get away from the medication that’s prescribed to me?

A Lifestyle change would probably be the best answer, but with our world’s being so fast, it’s so much more easier to have the fizzy drink, than buy a health bar- and cost wise aswell, the foods that are bad for you are cheaper than the healthy food. Also in this fast paced world there’s no real time to cook the healthy stuff, it’s easier to chuck a burger in the oven, and frozen chips in the fryer- then to start chopping up vegetables. Not to say I won’t try. I will and I must.

Also how can a lifestyle change help my menorrhagia? I don’t think it can. So how do I overcome that?

So all in all, can we really get away from medication? With all the health condition we can get as we grow older -it seems impossible.

I’m just a drug addict like my inlaws. And the other millions in the world. Our bodies really cannot function without it.

The funniest thing is, as I was popping yet another nurofen and 2 paracetamol into my mouth for my toothpain , my Boy just said “Mum you have more pills than food!” . My Boy I replied. “Karma is a very funny thing!”

Toothpain and 6 ways to relieve it.

I suffer really bad from toothpain, because of my addiction to all things fizzy, I don’t need to tell you the condition of my teeth. (Sure don’t look like the photo I posted!)

In a year I will have 6 visits to the dentist minimum just to have a filling either put in, or Re-put in. I’ve already lost 2 teeth, and I’m sure the one that’s hurting me now is next…..And it’s horrendous. My worst visits in life.

The worst for me is- I am allergic to codeine so for that reason they can’t use the anesthetic with codeine in. And because of my low blood pressure- the other anesthetic ‘Adreneline’ is also questionable as that reduces the BP more- so I could end up collapsing (which has happened twice to me so far)

To top it all off- I have reflux issue- so that means they can’t fully lay me down- and the dentist and practitioners all end up with backpain because they have to work on my teeth in funny angles. I’m surprised they have kept me on.

So a trip to the dentist for me, is like a mini surgery- I have doctors on standby- a pulse reader- checking my heart rate, an ambulance parked outside. It’s crazy because it’s a small procedure, and I feel awful because they have to do this for me (I have to cut out the fizzy drinks!!!)

But I am grateful that they put up with me, and take it all in there stride. Forever grateful. (I promise I will stop the fizzy drinks!)

Toothpain has to be the worst kind of pain after labour. How a single tooth can affect your whole body is crazy. It affects your head, can have headache, feel nauseous, feel heavy eyes, your jaw and ears ache, body temperature goes up and you can have fever, and the irritable mood that comes along does not help either! Not for me or the person on the receiving end.

So I thought I’d share a few tips that I use whilst waiting for my appointment, and yes those couple of hours before the appointment are the longest ones of my life!

Orajel

I only discovered this little beauty like a year ago. Why nobody had told me about this goes beyond me. Use a pea sized amount and rub on to tooth, it numbs the pain down for a couple of hours. And yup it does work. The relief is amazing.

Nurofen and Paracetamol

A must with toothache. A Nurofen (400mg) every 6 hours, and Paracetamol 2 of them- every 4 hours. This also helps relieve the pain for a couple of hours. If you are having this and pain does not subside it’s a sign of an infection.

Clove Oil

Put a drop or two of this oil on to a cotton wool and then put around gums and tooth. This is actually very strong and may feel tingly especially if lips or tongue touch it- but it is a natural remedy used from ancient times, and works well. It numbs down the pain for a little while. Sometimes pain can go away naturally. Alternatively if you have clove in the house- cut up a small piece and wedge between the tooth in pain- crunch down- allow the juices to come out. Wait 3-4 minutes and allow the magic to happen.

Salt and Water Rinse

The most common one . Add salt in warm water and gargle and rinse out. Salt water neautralises acids caused by bacteria- so it there is an infection- it will bring down the pH allowing you to relax temporarily.

Cold Compress

One of the oldest method of painrelief, not just for teeth but all around pain aswell, including bumps and bruises. It works by lessening the blood flow therefore numbing the area around the nerves.

Peppermint Tea Leaves

Use a cooled down used peppermint tea leave and press down on affected area. The herbs in the tea leaves have numbing properties which will help soothe the area. You must make sure it’s cooled down though.

All the above are temporary fixes- so that you can get through the days before your appointment.

I’ve managed to get an emergency appointment as I haven’t slept all night- and all above are not helping.

I’ve just been advised that I have an infection which needs to be cleared- and then I have to consider another removal.

That’s the 3rd tooth now. I’m not Evan 40 yet. Things are not looking good ( officially throwing away all fizzy drinks from my fridge!!)

Please keep me in your prayers. I hate the dentist

Love and regards
