With this whole lockdown thing, people are going a little crazy.
Initially we thought it’d be 3 months, so Dalgona and Banana loaf cakes were on the menu daily. Everyone started cooking and baking at home.
5 months into the Lockdown and no clear indication of improvements later, those Banana Loaf cakes are now happily sitting on the love handles, and Sheesh ( kebabs because I don’t swear) just got serious.
Now it’s time to stop the binge eating, pressing the ‘buy’ button on Amazon, and Friends re-run on netflix.
First thing to shape up…..and Breakfast!
We all know yoghurt is good for you, with the diet being all over the place, yoghurt can help produce vitamin B in the bowels, and promotes a healthy gut to fight off infections….. It sounds all great but blah blah…. I just can’t do yoghurt…. By itself.
So I was looking around for how to create something with yoghurt…. But everything seemed so hard, so long to make and so not appetizing. With the rise of social media and Instagram, food not only has to be eaten with the mouth, but also the eyes…
Also, I feel like I’m in the kitchen all day everyday. I don’t think I have cooked this much in my 37 years of life as I have in these last 5 months and I really don’t want to be faffing around in the kitchen early morning. I wanted something quick and easy.
And ta-dah….. Since when did Granola and Yoghurt become so sexy?
Here’s a quickie on how to make this. It’s so easy… I’m thinking breakfast, lunch and dinner …… I just don’t want to cook. Ever again!!
You will need:
A very pretty and cool cup, transparent. ( You know I have a thing for cups right) this one is from Bodum.
Greek Yoghurt ( I chose strawberry)
Granola (just buy it!)
Raspberries and Blueberries or whatever fruit you fancy, Banana and Strawberries go really well too.
And here’s what you do with it:
And ta- dah…. Told you it’s easy least lemon squeezy……and picture perfect too and actually really tasty!
Give it a go and take loads of pictures whilst your at it… Just like I did…
Love and Regards

Is it too soon to talk about pre Covid 19 days?. I felt hesitant to put this post on, because I didn’t know whether it is right or not? Is it tooo soon? … Oh well, I think I’ve decided it’s about right, if lockdown continues this may be a story I won’t ever be able to tell…
So Let’s talk birthday’s…… I was turning 37 ( ouch that hurts) and in all honesty i wasn’t really feeling up to much…. 37 is definitely the wrong side of 30- and too close to 40… I couldn’t deal with it… It’s a daunting age….
The hubby dearest was not going to be around, he had a work do up in Malta and schools and colleges were still on (lockdown started 2 weeks later). So my plan for my special day was to lie in, fill up the tub, and then just enjoy lazing around in the house…. That was until, the day before at silly o clock… The hubby walks in….”Happy Birthday!”
Urm… Ok. So there goes my day in alone in the house…. Yes I know… Sweetest suprise ever. I get it…. But like… I wanted to do nothing… At my age doing nothing is actually a gift. No matter how much ‘nothings’ we do… It’s never enough. I could do ‘nothing’ forever….well maybe not, but I needed a ‘nothing’ day that week.
He’s not usually a suprise kind of person, the hubby isn’t. He usually can’t keep things in…. Don’t get me wrong- he forever spoils me- but I know he’s going to spoil me before he does it. He can’t keep things in, that one. Gets too excited, spoils the suprise…. So I’m usually always aware… This suprised me- and I’ve realised I don’t like surprises. So hopefully first and last one…. Well it will be once he has read this. (Hi Dude ♥️)
Birthday came- kids got off to school/college and the hubby bundled me up into the car…. And we ended up here
Ladana Cafe in Birmingham. How pretty is this place? It has proper Lauderee vibes. Off a main road, it’s the prettiest picture ever, and seems like a hideaway from the buzzing Birmingham streets…
It wasn’t the warmest day, so outside was out of the question.
And inside…. Well have a look… It really does take your breath away….
On entrance there’s a room blocked off by glass for families, all prettied up in pastel greens and cream, beautifully draped curtains, and chandeliers dropping from ceiling…. It really is the prettiest of pictures….
We went into the next section…..and that was even more better than the first. The bold midnight blue, gold and burnt orange against the green is such a beautiful rich combination. It oozes class, and richness. I absolutely fell in love. It is such a gorgeous set up.
One thing I hate about pretty places, I loose focus of who’s with me and pay attention to the props around me….. the hubby however loves that, he allowed me to be fascinated with my ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ and taking a picture here and there whilst he continued to work on the phone. Sometimes (just sometimes) we made a good combination.
Just look at this chandelier! ( Jaw drops!) And the drinks bar area! ( Can you tell I was excited!) By the way zoom in guys- the water bottles in the bar area are to die for…..
Next minute I know I was using Google lens to find out where I can get the tea pot, or this water bottle… Im still struggling with the water bottle. If you guys see it- please please please let me know. I must have it….. Here’s another picture of it….
I think I have made it clear how much I loved the surroundings, but a surrounding can only be made better with good food…..
Started our morning off with tea and mojito… Look at those cute dishes…. Oh I’m a sucker for all things preety. ( Hold on just got Google lens out again)
And for breakfast the hubby went for chicken club Sandwich whilst I decided on the eggs shakshuka with warm nan….
The club Sandwich was huge. We both could have eaten the one, and it heavy and filling. ( And so pretty) .
Same for my dish, the portion was huge was every bit divine! And the nan was super soft and warm. Surroundings ticked off, food ticked off…. The extra suprise…..
….we ordered a lychee and watermelon shisha…….. When he knows the way to my heart. Breakfast and shisha ♥️.
Yes. The Dude smashed it. He got me rolled into one. Forget fancy smanchy dinners and high heels. You want my heart… You have to start with the best breakfast ever… And add in a shisha… And I’m putty in your hands!
And then…. Ub40 “I can’t help falling in love with you” song came on….this was our wedding song. I would love to say it was planned but nope it was god who staged it not the hubby. I kept staring at him thinking he will catch on, but nope, it fell on deaf ears…. Never mind had loads of surprises already today… Plan for rest of the day….. Absolutely “NOTHING’- just the way I like it.
Ladana Cafe details can be found here….. and they do Afternoon Tea!….. Afternoon Tea and Shisha!!!! (excitings)- Once the lockdown is over…. Ill definately be paying them another visit….. (added onto to-do list)
Love and regards

Every weekend we have this routine: One day we have a full English breakfast and the other day we do an Indian breakfast. With the Indian breakfast the variety is huge, whether its lentils, vegetable curry, mince meat, or anything that goes with rotis really….. and with English breakfast …. Well it’s a matter of shall we have it with hash brown or waffles today?
It was becoming quite predictable and boring to be honest
A quick search onto Google found me this, was intrigued and decided to try it…. and it was an absolute treat…. And so quick and easy to make also. Bonus.
I had to share it:
(to make 12 hashbrown egg cups)
200 grams Hash browns
3 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chilli powder/ paprika
Half tomato diced
Half onion diced
Switch on oven at 200°
Allow the Hashbrown to defrost and then with a fork mash it all up
Melt the butter and add to the Hashbrown and mix
Divide the Hashbrown into 12 and place onto a 12 cup cupcake tray
Form the Hashbrown around the tray into cups
Put into the oven for 15 mins to cook
Whisk the eggs add in the milk, diced tomato and onions
Add the chilli and salt and pepper and whisk
Pour this mixture into each Hashbrown cup
Add cheese on top
Put it back into oven for a further 10 mins or untill all fluffy and cooked
Scoop out each cup and bite into!
And there you have it. Hash brown and egg cups, and they are so tasty. The boi just grabs a handful and runs away with it, whilst the hubby likes it with beans and salad on the side
Let me know how you like yours
Love and regards

Who like French toast with Nutella and Strawberries?….. drooooooool!!!!
……Oh you do too? Sorry couldn’t hear you, I was getting too excited..
Ok, so when I think of French toast… its breakfast right?
and then Nutella? well thats got to be a dessert, right?
So where do these roll ups fit in? well ….my answer….” Anywhere you damn well want! just eat them!!! ALL!! By yourself! DO NOT SHARE!”. For breakfast, lunch and Dinner, and everything in between aswell!
Thats what I did. Im sorry, you can just salivate on the photos, and im really sorry to my dentist the most, it was one day of pure indulgence, I will behave from today onwards. I promise.
So here is how to make these little indulgences.
Its the most easiest and quickest thing ever…. it took me longer to write this blog up!!
So here goes; You will need:
6 Bread Slices
Strawberries (chopped up)
2 Tablespoon Milk
1 Tablespoon Butter
1.4 cup Suger
2 Teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
And heres what to do with it All;
Remove the crust of the Bread Slices
Roll out and flatten Bread with Rolling Pin
Layer Bread with Nutella and add few peices of chopped Strawberries on one end
And roll up the Bread, (the Nutella will hold the Roll in shape)
Add Butter to a frying pan on medium heat
Whisk Egge and milk together
Dip a roll to the egg mixture, and fry in frying pan
Once fried (usually takes 2/3 minutes max) dip into a bowl of mixed suger and cinnamon, covering it completely
And Voila, it is ready to Eat, or Devour as I did
Just how yummy does this look?
Damn I need to make more…..Jetting off to the kitchen now…… Im thinking…. Lotus and Banana and Cream Cheese!….. Oh Yum! (Sorry Dentist- THIS is the last time. I PROMISE)
Another day to entertain. My friend Afreen was coming from Dubai. She works in Dubai for a broker firm, and pops over once or twice a year to catch up with her family and children. And US.
She lives in Dubai, I really can’t compete with that place to take her anywhere fantastic to spend time with her. Dubai is the hotspot of dining and wining. Also our weather is terrible. Yep she’s from UK, so is aware of this, but generally runs off to Dubai to get away from the weather here.
So I decided instead of taking her out, I would throw her a High Chaii party at mine. (High Chaii is the Indian equivalent to the british Afternoon tea). and that way I can make it that extra special.
So I invited a few of our friends over and I created this
Well firstly, I’m sure you know by now I have a love for cups- I’m talking about tea cups here. So I had a chance to show case my new teacups. I got these from my trip in India- and it goes so well with the theme.
Aren’t they soo pretty? (Smiling widely)
And now ill break down what I made.
This is something I improvised with. I don’t have a name for it, so please feel free. I basically chopped up onions and tomatoes and added salt, chilli powder, lemon juice, and ready made salsa. I deep fried poppadoms and put the onion mixture in the middle. And boy was it divine. Do try it. It’s mouthwatering.
A Fruit Platter. Always a must. Always pretty. Always colourful. Always in my parties!
Khaman. I ordered these, they are a yellow steamed cake made out of chick pea flour. It has a tangy and sweet flavour and goes soo well with green chutney.
Dahi Vada. These are deep fried lentil balls soaked in yoghurt topped with spicy and tangy chutneys, like green chutney and tamarind sauce. And then finished off with spice powders ( I can see you salivating). This is a traditional Indian street food. I served these up in cocktail glasses to give it a grandeur look.
Kheema pockets and Omelette rolls. The Omelette rolls are basically masala omelettes wrapped around a chappati. And I split this into two.
And the Kheema pockets, is minced meat cooked with Indian masalas, and then put into halved pitta nan’s with lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes. (Definately the biggest hits of the day. I may need to do a step by step blog on this).
Next up we had Punjabi vegetable samosas (which I bought) and home made mango puree and puris. The puris was made by a dear friend, they are an Indian deep fried bread which we dunk into the mango puree.
I also added some croissants, tea cakes, scones and marmalade.
We had Tea, orange Juice and drinks because my dear guest does not like Tea. So I served her up some Pepsi in my wonderful tea cup.
And here is the beauty herself. Hope you enjoyed you High Chaii.
And to end it all we had to do our selfies. I mean what even is a party if there are no selfies right?
I hope you guys got some ideas for your next high chaii. Don’t forget to send me pics or tag me on social media.
My ‘Pancakes and Pyjamas Pamper Party’ kicked off perfectly. In my last post I showed what I made, and the random invite I sent off. Most of the girls turned up and we had such a good catch up. It was so nice to have so many of us together.
So what did we do?
I chose to do a early morning party because I knew I’d have the house to myself. The hubby would be at work, the elder Boy at college and the younger Boi at school. So no disturbances. Also the parents with elder kids would also be free of their children. A time out we all needed. Because it was a pyjama party I kept aside some blankets and water bottles, so that we could all get cosied up.
Is it Evan called a party without Shishas?. I arranged for 2 to be delivered early morning. Yes. Who does Shisha for breakfast? Urm…. Me! Because it wouldnt be a party otherwise…. I would say Shishas is the equivalent of Alcohol for us. It ain’t a party without it.
We had a cute little visitor come to our party- it was ladies only- but he’s too cute to say no to. So in he came charming us all and breaking our hearts. And because of this shisha was confined to the kitchen area. Bonus is- I wasn’t too worried about my carpets getting burnt!
For the “Pamper” part of the party. I had arranged for a masseuse to come in and give the girls 20 minute mini treatments. Definately the highlight of the party.
And the extremely happy birthday girl got to cut her cake.
Did it Evan happen if there’s no selfies?
And Monopoly throughout the day. There’s no greater bonding then around a board game, especially monopoly. Admittedly this is one game that can bring out the best and the worst in people, and that In itself is the best part. It gave us alot of laughs, and tears. And just to put it out there- there was no clear winner! (Inside joke)
And after all was done, I was left alone in my house with leftovers and memories and still loads of time to myself. I must get use to this!
Can’t wait to arrange another one soon. I’ll have to try and beat this one though….
It was my first Retirement weekend off, (from the event planning) and I was getting all anxious over it. With the work load reducing throughout the weeks before this, I was finding myself with quite a bit of spare time, and a Friday all to myself…In my house… Alone…With nothing to do …..is scaring me.
So I sent a message out to one of my girly groups
I wasn’t anticipating alot of us as it’s a Friday morning, everyone’s at work, appointments, childcare etc. I thought Evan if their’s one or two people, it’ll be a nice catch up and my day will pass- and hopefully I’ll have to start to get use to …. Doing nothing on Fridays from now on?!
Well what happened? You can see from some messages above, It ended up being a full house.
Initially it was just going to be a Fry up – Eggs, Beans, Toast, Sausages… But the more people that confirmed, the more my brain started ticking…. And when my brain starts ticking…. I go into Overdrive.
At the same time it was one of the girlies birthday, and having just had given birth to a beautiful baby- she was very much looking forward to some time out and the invite couldn’t have come at a better time for her.
The initial small and quick fry up ended up being a full blown “Pancake and Pyjama Pamper Party”
And here is a pic:
So what did I do?
Before I start can I just share this Cup and Saucer set with you? How beautiful are they? I have an obsession with cups and saucers (and Tea) you’ll definately be seeing more as I go along. But this is my favourite set to date. Mine are actually from a trip to Africa (Malawi- my birth country) and they were gifted to me.
If you are interested you can get these in John Lewis or Debenhams or evan online. They are by Villeroy & Boch and cost £24 for one set.
From the above picture I’m sure you have already worked out eggs beans and sausages were ruled out. Instead I decided to do a Mediterranean style breakfast party with…. Well… Pancakes- because I wanted to call it “Pancakes and Pyjamas Pamper Party”
And lastly the teas and coffees. Here’s a final video….
So how did you find my party and set up? Did you spot the shishas? Yup. You did. Wait for my next blog on what we got upto.
Sitting peacefully at home, with nothing to do on a Friday evening, Friends series playing on netflix for the umpteenth time, and the hubby shouts out “Get in the car- I need to get out of here!” …. Doesn’t happen to you? No? Weird? Yes? Well he just did that.
Within 20 minutes me and the boys are sitting in the car, one pair of clothes each in plastic bags awaiting our adventure.
I can see we are driving towards the motorway- but where are we going? It’s not my birthday, it’s not an anniversary- not the boys birthday- should I ask?
“Can you check on your phone if they have a room at Ellesmere port babe?for tonight”
Oh. So it is a random trip. Nothing planned.
I fish out my phone and have a look. I know exactly where he wants to go. It’s our favourite Christmas spot for shopping in Manchester, and it’s the Holiday Inn at Ellesmere port. And he wants to go in October?! Ok. I’m not complaining. (I hope our December trip is still on?)
There’s a double room available for tonight for £105 and that includes brekky. Perfecto. I pull out my Amex and start punching in the numbers.
By the time we reached its well past midnight. We hit the pillows and snore away.
The Holiday Inn at Ellesme port is our favourite stop spot. We always come to this hotel, rooms are clean and big, and it has a swimming pool (we didn’t take any costume as didn’t know where we were going) and it’s in a beautiful location. Set at the port it’s very scenic
And the main reason we come here is …. The hasbrowns. Yup you heard correct. Hash browns. They are always soooo good! So crunchy yet soft. Oh my! It’s a must (I sound crazy I know- but if you go, try it and tell me!)
By now I’ve worked out the plan. We going Cheshire oaks designer village for a day of shopping. He sure is in a good mood.
I’m wondering whether it was a good idea to wear these 🙄. Too late.
So after indulging with our tea and hash brown with brown sauce overload, the hubby took raisins and sat down, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him eat raisins? I asked him “since when do you eat raisins?” He answered ” I do eat raisins.”
No. Can’t be true, I don’t eat raisins- I’ve not bought raisins in the 18 years I’ve been married to him, so I just watched him eat in wonder. He eats raisins. Evan after 18 years I’m learning something new.
Stay tuned for our day at Cheshire oaks what we bought and what we ate.
Love and regards
P.s. Still struggling with the tooth! And I’m in India!! Loads to come
